Talbot County Emergency Management GIS Project

August 2020

For this project, I developed a comprehensive suite of information products—including forms, maps, dashboards, and applications—to assist in emergency management and geospatial decision-making for potential natural disaster incidents in Talbot County, Maryland. Given that the main hazards in Talbot County are flooding and wind damage from strong storms, the products are centered around a hypothetical storm surge scenario during a future hurricane. These tools are designed to enable more efficient data acquisition, rapid deployment of resources, and systematic recovery efforts.

Flood Situational Awareness App

EXERCISE ONLY: This is a web app for Talbot County Situation Awareness with layers that address core information needs during Preparedness, Readiness, Response, and Recovery for flood related disasters.

The web map was created using the ArcGIS Pro Flood Situational Awareness Web Map Template to assess and analyze the most vulnerable areas of Talbot County, Maryland during a flooding event. The map contains layers depicting flood hazard risk zones, critical and special needs infrastructure, social vulnerability index (SVI) and live stream weather data.
